About Us

At Canberra Occupational Therapy, we are committed to supporting children to grow, participate, and thrive in their everyday lives. We believe every child has unique strengths and developmental potential, and our role is to recognise, nurture, and build on that potential in meaningful ways.

Our Approach

We use a developmental approach to occupational therapy, recognising that children develop skills over time through experience, play, and supportive relationships. Our therapy focuses on helping children develop the foundations they need for participation in daily activities—at home, at school, and in the community.

Central to our practice is a child-led approach. We believe children learn best when they are engaged, motivated, and supported to explore at their own pace. By following the child’s interests and cues, therapy becomes purposeful, enjoyable, and relevant to their everyday world.

We work closely with families, valuing parents and caregivers as key partners in a child’s development. Therapy is tailored to each child’s individual needs, strengths, and goals.

Our Values

Our work is guided by strong values that shape how we support children and families:

  • Compassion
We approach every child and family with empathy, understanding, and genuine care.

  • Goodness – Strive for what is right
We are committed to ethical, thoughtful practice and always aim to do what is in the best interests of the child.

  • Perseverance
We recognise that development takes time. We remain patient, consistent, and committed, even when progress feels slow.

  • Grace
We meet children and families where they are, offering kindness, respect, and understanding without judgement.

Our Commitment

At Canberra Occupational Therapy, we are dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where children feel confident to try, learn, and grow. Our goal is to help children build skills that support independence, participation, and wellbeing—now and into the future.
